Update from the Warehouse
Last Saturday, Tim Hagen and TWAW volunteers Adam Laughlin and Romeo Evalle were once again at the warehouse working on the large donation of computers we have been given. Slowly but surely, we are working our way through the almost 300 computers from the Denver City School District that another volunteer Jerry Woosley scouted for us. As we worked, I thought about the steps necessary to make this kind of thing happen. First, the school district had to be willing to donate the computers and Jerry had to hear about it and think of us. Then, the computers had to be brought from Denver City to Amarillo (which Jerry and his son organized). Here in Amarillo, Adam and Romeo have been heading up the effort to refurbish and package the computers. Next, the money had to be raised for a container to ship the computers from Amarillo to Belize. And all the while in Belize, Kenny Logan and Pedro Perez have been trying to identify and prioritize the places where these computers will go. When the computers arrive, an effort will be organized to distribute them to the schools, churches, and other organizations that will use them. Along every step of this chain, there are people who have decided that God's work is going to be more than a once-a-month thing for them. Work like this can't get done if people are only willing to give a few hours here and there. Jerry, Adam, and Romeo are good examples of Christians who will take the reins of a project that they see will benefit God's kingdom and work at it until it's done. We have been working on these computers most every Saturday for a couple of months, now. Both Adam and Romeo have also taken computers home to work on. I say this not to put them on a pedestal, but to honor the God who has given them the desire to work. And also to encourage you to look at your own heart. Has God called you to be more than an occasional worker? There is plenty to do! Jump in!![]()
