David Mullin: President
Congratulations on being called by God to participate in His Work on this mission trip. These projects are only one part of the equation. The greatest part of these trips is praying for God to do things only He can do. This is the real excitement of mission. We get to see God do extraordinary things, and many times we get to participate. Those amazing things include changing hearts and minds and lives, building His Church, the building of the body of Christ, the sharing of Christian love between seemingly incompatible people, and other miracles we will witness. So be praying about not only the successful completion of our assigned tasks, but that God will do the things that only he can do. He will be glorified.

TWAW does incredible things through Christ, but doing Christ’s work requires two things: hearing and doing. I am constantly energized and amazed at the way TWAW actively seeks God’s will and relentlessly acts upon it. We never know what God is going to place in front of us next, which is so refreshing and exciting. Whether building medical trailers, building churches, or taking children from American orphanages to disciple Belizean orphans, TWAW does not ask ‘why’ or question whether the work can be done. Instead, TWAW asks, “Why not?” CPA with KPMG for 3 years. Attorney with Baker Botts for 2 years.

“I believe in this ministry and what The Word at Work is doing for the people of Belize and for the Kingdom of God. We have learned much about missions during our time there and we continue to learn what it means to be an effective and powerful voice for the kingdom while walking with integrity in the community. Our work with the women of Belize, building a church and school in the Burial Grounds, loving on orphans, and ministering to inmates at the prison has led to great relationships and a lasting bond between our churches. I hope you will join us as we continue to see God’s Kingdom expanding in Belize and to the ends of the earth.”
Rev. Matt Mitchell is the Associate Pastor for Mission and Student Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, TX where he has served for 2 years. This past summer I made my eighth mission trip to Belize, serving at Dorothy Menzie's Childcare Center (DMCC). Our team consisted of four adult leaders and a group of teenagers from the Presbyterian Children's Home in Amarillo, TX. Just like children at DMCC, their pasts include stories of physical abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, rape, abandonment, gang involvement, and violence; stories that are heart-piercing. What better vessels to show God's grace and the mighty power of His healing love, and who better to relate to these Belizean children that have experienced some of the same life situations?
What a beautiful week! What a glory to be a part of a ministry that shows, talks and lives the compassion of Christ! Experience firsthand the joy of being obedient to God's call on your life. Jesus says "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock." Come, let's answer the call and join Him together in Belize!

It has been a blessing to serve on TWAW Board since its inception. This past fall I was privileged to be a part of a “Vision Tour” that 12 members of our congregation participated in. This allowed our church members to see and hear about what God was doing in various parts of Belize. Whether seeing the transformation of the Belize Prison or holding the hands of displaced children, we were able to clearly see the hand of God at work.
I would strongly encourage you to get involved with TWAW. If you want a hands-on mission experience that will impact you and your church there are numerous opportunities. If you want an overall perspective of what TWAW is doing, a Vision Tour offers an excellent opportunity to see the many opportunities that exist for you to minister in Belize.

I've been active with The Word at Work since 2002 leading over 16 short-term mission trips to Belize and working closely with Tim Tam on many fronts. I'm involved with TWAW because it provides me, my family and the people I bring on STMs the purest example of the type of life Jesus calls us to live--never ceasing to motivate us in our faith walk. If you are interested in deep, lasting spiritual growth, either personal or that of your own congregation, should come and serve with us in Belize, we look forward to serving with you.
Dan is a life long entrepreneur, spending over 24 years starting and building small businesses performing marketing communications, strategic communication consulting and interactive educational services for Fortune 500 companies. Over the last 25 years he's served in churches as worship leader and teacher, and helped found several para-church ministries, including being a current board member of Hope for Orphans of Ethiopia Ministries (www.hoeministries.org), a ministry Dan has helped mold into a functioning mirror-image of TWAW, focused on the orphans of Ethiopia.
