Tim Tam: Executive Director

As a teen in the northern suburbs of Chicago Tim Tam, Executive Director of TWAW, began his journey with Christ through the ministry of Young Life. Throughout his college days he was involved with youth programs and Bible studies leading the New Trier Young Life Club where he served for 8 years. In 1979 he graduated from Trinity College in Deerfield, IL where he majored in biblical studies and psychology. In 1980 he joined the staff at First Presbyterian Church in Evanston, IL as Director of Youth Ministries. While working there Tim participated in several mission trips and projects. He realized the immense value of these activities not only for the recipients, but also for manner in which they transformed the participants. Involving young people in mission became a focus of Tim's ministry. He left Evanston in August of 1988 to further his studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters of Divinity. After graduation he, his wife (Lisa) and three children (Cara, Josh, and Nate) moved to Amarillo, TX where Tim served as associate pastor of Youth ministries and adult education at First Presbyterian Church.

While serving at FPC Amarillo the mission to Belize took on a life of its own. What began as a spring break mission trip rapidly grew into an independent 501(C)3 non-profit organization. Founded in 2002, TWAW now serves as an interdenominational ministry engaging hundreds of volunteers each year from across our nation, impacting tens of thousands of lives in Belize.

Today Tim continues to live in Amarillo with his amazing wife, Lisa, and travels frequently to Belize.

Beth Garner: Operations Manager

As the Operations Manager, Beth manages the office and also makes sure trips and projects run smoothly.  If you ever have a question, she is the one to call.  Beth joined the TWAW staff in fall 2007.  She had a thriving career as a dental hygienist before God called her to full-time ministry.  Having been to Belize several times, she had a heart for the people there but never knew the amazing events God had in store.  Filled with a passion to proclaim Christ through word and deed, Beth moved back to Amarillo from Denver with her husband, Nick, and 10 year-old son, Tristen to join the staff at TWAW.  She leads several trips to Belize each year.

“The handiwork of God in Belize is undeniable.  God cares more about your availability than He does your ability.  It is a great honor to be involved in God’s work. I encourage you to join in the privilege of being part of something bigger than yourself.  It will be life changing experience for you and those you serve.  Please feel free to contact me by phone or by email.”

Kenny Logan: Construction Manager

I was born September 17 1969 in Monkey River Town, Belize into a large family hence the joy of work was taught early on the small farm we had. Fishing was also a part of every day life. I attended elementary but not high school. At about 17 years of age I gave my life to Christ and I started working in the construction industry. This became my joy and building with my hand gave me a sense of purpose.  I am very much self-taught in all the areas of house construction. In 1993 I was offered a scholarship to study Theology in Barbados and graduated top in my class.  I was later ordained as a pastor and served in that capacity for about 7 years.  1999-2001 I was the construction supervisor for Habitat for Humanity Belize and helped build 14 houses.  Then I went to the USA for a while and was planning to start life over there but on a short trip home I met Tim Tam and volunteered to work with his group if I was available.  Well, I am still available doing the thing I enjoy doing. So every day I go to work at my hobby. Yes, our God is good and has a big sense oh humor. And I am just his servant, so pray that I may continue to do so.  With me in this adventure is my wife Tina, daughter Kaylie and son Kj.

Dan Gallo: Northeast Regional Director

"I've been active with The Word at Work since 2002 leading over 16 short-term mission trips to Belize and working closely with Tim Tam on many fronts. I'm involved with TWAW because it provides me, my family and the people I bring on short-term missions the purest example of the type of life Jesus calls us to live--never ceasing to motivate us in our faith walk. If you are interested in deep, lasting spiritual growth, either personal or that of your own congregation, should come and serve with us in Belize, we look forward to serving with you."
Dan is a life long entrepreneur, spending over 24 years starting and building small businesses performing marketing communications, strategic communication consulting and interactive educational services for Fortune 500 companies.  Over the last 25 years he's served in churches as worship leader and teacher, and helped found several para-church ministries, including being a current board member of Hope for Orphans of Ethiopia Ministries (www.hoeministries.org), a ministry Dan has helped mold into a functioning mirror-image of TWAW, focused on the orphans of Ethiopia.  You may contact him by email dangallo@twaw.org.
