Board Member Fundraiser · September 2026
Three days that could open years of doors for Belize.
The Word at Work board has authorized board member Dan Brown and his wife Debbi to attend the 2026 Mission Leaders Conference in Orlando — a gathering of hundreds of mission agencies and church leaders from across North America. Dan and Debbi will explore how Missio Nexus can strengthen our ministry to the people of Belize, and to build relationships with partners who share that calling. We need $3,650 to send them.

WHY THIS TRIP?
We've never been able to do this alone.
Since 1996, The Word at Work has come alongside Belizean ministries already caring for the hungry, the sick, the imprisoned, and the vulnerable. The bigger our circle of partners, the more we can bring to that table. This conference is where that circle grows.
partners: Meet the people already doing the work
Missio Nexus connects Great Commission churches and agencies across North America. In one room, Dan and Debbi can sit down with organizations whose medical, education, and discipleship resources could reach Belize through the relationships we already have.
Reach: Explore what Missio Nexus can do for Belize
The board asked Dan to go and find out. Three days of workshops and shared learning with hundreds of leaders is the fastest way to see where the gaps are, who else is praying about them, and what Missio Nexus membership could open up for our Belizean partners.
Stewardship: Come home sharper
Come home sharper
The workshop tracks cover fundraising, communications, church engagement, and leadership development. Every one of those makes our board better at stewarding what you give — and better at serving our Belizean partners well.
WHO YOU'RE SENDING

Dan first went to Belize as part of a mission discernment team from his church. He came home changed — not by what the people there lacked, but by what they had. By Western standards they had very little. Their faith was purer and more vibrant than much of what he'd grown up around.
What struck him most was the joy — the sheer joy he saw in the Christ followers he met.
Since that first trip, Dan has served and supported mission trips to Belize through The Word at Work, and now serves on our Board. A retired IT manager, he brings a working knowledge of technology and online ministry to a board that needs it. He's a longtime leader at First Presbyterian Church of Coeur d'Alene and is currently in a program of study to become a lay pastor.
Dan is a widowed father of four grown children. He recently married Debbi, his first love from college, who is attending the conference alongside him. Together they'll work with the board to choose the workshops that bring the most value back to the team.
